Canada Tax Holiday 2024/2025 Policy and FAQ

The GST/HST tax holiday begins on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, and runs until Thursday, February 15th, 2025 (inclusive). During this time, GST/HST will not be charged on eligible products for orders that are shipped or made available. For more details, please refer to the Government of Canada’s official announcement.

What is included in the Tax Exempt?

Eligible Products:

The following products qualify for the tax holiday:

  • Board Games: Only those with a recommended age under 14 (games marked 14+ are ineligible).
  • Trading Card Games (sealed and singles): Includes Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon, Disney Lorcana.
  • Dice
  • Playing Cards
  • Puzzles
  • RPG Books
  • TCG Card Sleeves

 What is NOT included?

  • Card board storage boxes
  • Deck boxes
  • Binders
  • Various card storage supplies such as Team bags, hard cases, penny sleeves

FAQ for Tax Holiday 2024/25

1. Are Sports Cards eligible?
No, sports cards are NOT eligible for the tax holiday.

2. Are Pre-Order products eligible?

  • Eligible: Pre-orders with release dates during the tax holiday period.
  • Ineligible: Pre-orders with release dates after February 15th, 2025, or those without confirmed release dates.

3. Is tax charged on shipping?
Yes, tax is charged on shipping services. If your order includes only eligible products but includes a shipping charge, you will still see tax applied to the shipping fee.
